Aspiring could reverse tooth decay

Tooth decay occurs when acid in the mouth dissolves the enamel and dentine of the teeth causing formation of holes or cavities. The acid is produced by bacteria that are found within the plaque and thin film that builds up on the teeth.

Aspirin could reverse the effects of tooth decay by triggering teeth to self-reported, reducing the need for filling.
The drug can form new dentine, the hard tooth structure that is usually damaged by decay.

When we eat sugar it interacts with the bacteria within the plaque to produce the destructive acid. If the plaque is allowed to build up, the acid can begin to break down the surface of tooth, causing holes.

After the damage, the cavity begins to eat away at the second level of tooth material that lies beneath the enamel: the dentin. Tooth decay can lead to tooth abscesses, which may result in the tooth having to be removed.

A filling can be used to stop the bacteria in order to prevent the cavity from reaching the tooth's pulp. Fillings may fail and may need to be replaced many times during the life time of the tooth.

Low dose of aspirin increased the rebuilding of minerals which restores strength and function of the tooth, it also stimulated existing stem cells in the tooth to regenerate the damaged tooth structure.

Sugar is as addictive as cocaine

Sugar can cause cravings, binges and withdrawal symptoms similar to a drug addiction. Sugar could be just as addictive as cocaine, cocaine and sugar have similar effect on the brain.

Cutting sugar out may lead to depression and behavioural disorders such as ADHD, refined sugar and opioid drugs trigger a similar response from the brain's reward system, both releasing dopamine and other pleasure-inducing chemicals.

Getting used to this feeling leads to craving for more to get the same response, leading to addiction.
Consuming sugar produces effects similar to that of cocaine, altering mood by inducing reward and pleasure

Experiments on rats showed that sugar was more addictive than opioid drugs.
Withdrawal symptoms can include behavioural problems or depression. Lack of dopamine in the brain during periods between sugar consumption has lead to ADHD-like symptoms.

During off sugar period, a mild state of depression may ensue due to dopamine deficiency, which can be temporarily relieved by consuming more sugar.

Activating brain region creates desire for cocaine

Researchers have identified a part of the brain that intensifies desire for rewards like addiction to cocaine. Activating part of the amygdala, an almond-shaped brain region, intensifies motivation to consume cocaine far beyond ordinary drug levels, similar to its ability to intensify motivation for sweet foods like sugar.

Amygdala plays a key role in drug addiction. For addicts, drugs become so attractive as to cause intense motivation focused entirely on obtaining drugs at the expense of other normal life enjoyment. Researchers implanted rats with a catheter that allowed them to earn doses of cocaine, activating brain region creates intense desire to use cocaine.

Researchers implanted rats with a catheter that allowed them to earn doses of cocaine by poking their noses into small holes in the wall. Whenever rats would poke their nose into one particular hole to earn intravenous cocaine, a laser light would also activate the neurons in the central amygdala at the same time

Poking their nose into a different hole earned identical cocaine, but never activated the amygdala. Rats focused only on the port that earned cocaine together with amygdala-activating laser, consumed much more cocaine than rats without amygdala activation, and avidly nibbled around the laser-cocaine hole for more.

The amygdala activation intensified motivation when cocaine was also present. By contrast, when the researchers temporarily inactivated the amygdala using a painless drug infusion, rats completely stopped responding for cocaine.

Artificial sweeteners cause different health problems

Artificial sweeteners are sugar substitutes, these are food additives that taste like sugar. Common artificial sweeteners are stevia, aspartame, sucralose, neotame, acesulfame potassium, saccharin and advantame.

It has negative effects on metabolism, gut bacteria and appetite. Consumption of artificial sweeteners is associated with weight gain, obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, kidney damage and heart disease. It increases the risk of metabolic disorder and cancer.

Artificial sweeteners are used to prepare these : toothpaste, mouthwash, chewing gum, alcoholic beverages, liquid medicine, salad dressing, frozen desserts, frozen yogurt, candies and processed snacks.

Artificial sweeteners can be replaced with healthy natural foods like raw honey, dates, coconut sugar, maple syrup, banana puree and natural fruits jam.

Alzheimer's gene and poor diet increase the risk of developing the disease

Alzheimer’s gene and diet rich in fat and sugar can increase the risk of developing the disease.
ApoE4 gene that affects memory is the major cause of Alzheimer's disease.

Genes, diet, environment and lifestyle determine risk of developing any disease including Alzheimer's disease.
ApoE4 and ApoE3 are two variants of a gene that codes for a protein, apolipoprotein E, which combine fat and cholesterol and take them to the body’s lymphatic and circulatory systems and to the brain.
The ApoE4 causes an inflammation, Alzheimer’s diseases and cardiovascular disease while ApoE3 does not increase risk of the disease. ApoE4 is present in about fifteen percent of people. Alzheimer’s affects more women than men.

Fatty acids like palmitic acid can cause inflammation in the brain because they can go into the brain and affect glia. Glia is responsible for immune response in the brain, poor diet can make it less effective in protecting the brain.

How sugar spreads cancer

Researchers have discovered how sugar modification in cells enhances the spread of skin cancer.

The study reveals that FUT8, an enzyme that transfers the sugar fucose onto proteins, is the major cause of melanoma metastasis.

Scientists thought that the process in which carbohydrates attach to cell called glycosylation plays an important role in melanoma progression.

Researchers examined more than 30 samples of cancer tissue in patients, focusing on a particular type of glycosylation fucosylation, or the addition of sugars to a molecule by FUT8 and other enzymes.

Using laboratory mice, the researchers were able to reveal the role of FUT8 in metastasis, they subsequently focused on the factors behind the spread of melanoma.

Addiction of fucose to a particular molecule, L1CAM, by FUT8 spurred melanoma metastasis. When the
enzyme was removed, the onset of the cancer were hindered from spreading.

Grape seed can reduce tooth loss

A natural compound found in grapes has been found to strengthen teeth and prevent tooth decay. Grape seed extract,
a byproduct of the wine making industry has been linked to reduction in tooth extractions.

The extract has been found to toughen dentin, the tissue that makes up the bulk of the tooth which lies beneath the hard external enamel.

Tooth decay occur when acid is produced from plaque, which builds up on teeth. When we consume food high in sugar the bacteria in plaque turn the sugar into energy they need to produce acid.

If the plaque is allowed to build up, the acid can begin to break down the surface of tooth, causing cavities. The cavity begins to eat away at the second level of tooth material that lies beneath the enamel: the dentin.

Damage collagen can repair itself with a combination of plant-based oligomeric proanthocyanidins – flavonoids found in most foods and vegetables and extracts from grape seeds.

High sugar intake and your facial beauty

High sugar intake can cause obesity, chronic disease, tooth decay, cause wrinkles on your face and change your complexion.

Glycation is when sugar in your bloodstream bonds onto proteins in the body. The more sugar we eat, the more glycation end products we produce.

Since collagen that keeps our skin plump and firm is the body’s most prevalent protein, it will be affected most and can result in saggy, loose and red facial skin.

Glycation can cause other skin problems, like redness, rosacea and acne. Foods with higher glycemic index
can trigger breakouts.

Sugar triggers the pancreas to produce more insulin, which increases the hormones that stimulate sebum production. Sugar changes complexion by depleting water in the cells causing dark under-eye circles.

Cinnamon may reduce damage of high-fat diet

Cinnamon may lessen the risk of cardiovascular damage of a high-fat diet by enabling the body's antioxidant and anti-inflammatory systems and slowing the fat-storing process.

Researchers fed rats cinnamon supplements for 12 weeks along with a high-fat diet. They discovered that rats
weighed less and had less belly fat and healthier levels of sugar, insulin and fat in their blood, compared to rats that did not receive cinnamon with their high-fat foods.

Rats fed with cinnamon also had fewer molecules involved in the body's fat-storing process and more antioxidant and anti-inflammatory molecules that protect the body from the damages of stress. This shows that cinnamon may reduce the effects of a high-fat diet.

Omega-3s may serve as therapy for type 1 diabetes

Type 1 diabetes is an auto-immune condition that activates the immune system to destroy pancreas cell. When the cells are destroyed, pancreas cannot produce insulin.

People with type 1 diabetes depend on insulin to replace what the body cannot produce, new research discovered that omega-3 fatty acids can reduce autoimmune responses of the disease.

Omega-3 fatty acids can stop inflammatory process in the body, this process can stop or prevent autoimmune diseases.

Non-obese diabetic mice were used for an experiment, omega-3 was increased in their diet  and were tested every 3 months to detect glucose and insulin tolerance.

The researchers examined the pancreas of the mice for insulitis, they discovered that adding omega-3 to the diet of mice improved glucose metabolism and control blood sugar and insulin for 182 days and prevents autoimmunity.

Warm planet may increase diabetes

Global warming is increase in temperature of the earth surface, warm temperature will deactivate the use of brown fat in the body.

Diabetes occurs when the amount of sugar in the blood is too much because the body cannot use it properly.

If the global warming continues it may increase diabetes by making brown cell inactive for a long period of time.

Brown fat is very active in winter, when the temperature is cold. People with type 2 diabetes can be expose to cold regularly to improve the use of insulin. It can also leads to production of new brown fat cells in the body.
