Probiotics for respiratory illness
There is growing evidence probiotics can reduce the risk and duration of respiratory tract infections, as well as reducing antibiotic use. Replicating a research model used in France, researchers examined the potential clinical and economic impacts in Canada.
The study included researchers from Western, Lawson Health Research Institute, Laval University and Utrecht University. It incorporated two separate scenarios from two meta-analyses. A meta-analysis combines data from multiple studies using a statistical approach.
Results from the study showed regular probiotic use could eliminate respiratory tract infections. Respiratory tract infections are highly contagious infections of the sinus, throat or airways, including influenza. Although respiratory tract infections are typically viral, about one-quarter of patients are also prescribed antibiotics (which offer benefit only against bacterial infections).
Antibiotics can have serious side effects like destroying many beneficial bacteria in the human body. This is why the use of probiotics is an important defense against respiratory tract infections.
Probiotics are live microorganisms that, when administered in adequate amounts, confer a health benefit on the host and can be consumed in products such as yogurt.
People are increasingly making probiotics a part of their daily diet or dietary supplements for their Probiotics can also be used to prevent respiratory tract infections.

How to cure a burned mouth
Burns on the tongue heal faster than on the roof of the mouth, since the tongue has the most blood vessel supply in the entire body.
However, the pain can be searing since the skin here is more sensitive than other parts of the body, and it doesn't have any fat between the skin and the bones. As a result, it usually lingers two to three days.
Burned mouth can be healed quickly by sticking to a soft diet like yogurt and sushi, avoiding spice, noodles, soup, iced drink and hot foods eat lukewarm food - room temperature.
Coffee, wine and soda should all be off the menu for days. These foods are acidic, they will irritate skin as it's healing, potentially delaying the healing process.
Bacteria in an open wound can lead to infection and prevent healing. After a burn, brush your teeth thoroughly, use mouthwash, and drink plenty of water to wash out any built-up food or bacteria from your mouth.

Eating protein three times in a day maintains muscle strength
Human organs, tissues, muscles and hormones are made from proteins, the protein in foods is used by every part of the body for proper development.
Eating protein three times in a day could maintain muscle strength in old age. Frequently eating foods rich in protein is linked to improved mobility in elderly men.
Breaking down of protein occurs rapidly in older people, adding protein to every meal of the day stimulate muscle building and strength. It also replace protein loss due to breakdown.
Muscle protein is constantly being broken down and built back in older people, eating protein throughout the day balance the protein levels in the body.
Eating enough protein is necessary to build and maintain healthy muscle mass, protein is important for bodybuilding. Foods rich in protein are: egg, beans, fish, lentils, yogurt, milk, chicken, turkey, beef, nuts and seeds.

Dairy products increase the risk of Parkinson's disease
Consuming three servings of low-fat dairy a day is associated with the risk of developing Parkinson's disease.
Drinking more than one serving of low-fat or skim milk per day is associated with a greater risk of developing Parkinson's disease.
Researchers analyzed approximately 25 years of data on 80,736 women enrolled in the Nurses' Health Study and 48,610 men enrolled in the Health Professionals' Follow-up Study.
Participants in these studies completed health questionnaires every two years and diet questionnaires every four years. During that time, 1,036 people developed Parkinson's disease.
Researchers examined what kinds of dairy each person consumed, including milk, cream, cheese, yogurt, ice cream, butter, margarine and sherbet.
Full-fat dairy, like whole milk is not associated with the risk of Parkinson's disease. Regular intake of dairy products is associated with increased risk of Parkinson's disease.

Higher intake of yogurt and low-fat milk may reduce depression
Researchers discovered that those who consumed yogurt and low-fat milk may not develop symptoms of depression compared to those who did not.
Common symptoms of depression are: feeling of hopelessness, helpless, fatigue, persistent sadness and suicidal thought. These symptoms may vary from person to person; some may experience all the symptoms while others may experience few.
Prof. Ryiochi Nagatomi and colleagues examined how intake of diary products impact the risk of developing risk of depression.
The researchers included 1,159 adults from Japan aged between 19 and 83 years, they disclosed how often they drink yoghurt, low-fat and whole-fat milk in a questionnaire.
The result shows that adults that consumed low-fat milk and yogurt between one and four times in a week were less likely to have symptoms of depression.
