Spider venom may prevent brain damage

A peptide from spider venom may prevent brain damage caused by stroke, accordingly to stroke association

Stroke occurs when the blood supply to brain is reduced or stops. During stroke, the brain does not receive enough oxygen and nutrients and this destroy brain cells.

Science tested spider venom protein - Hi1a on rat, the protein blocked acid-sensing ion channels in the brain, this can cure nervous system disorder in human and it has potential to reduce damaged caused by stroke.
