Links between poor diet and untimely death

Inadequate nutrition and unhealthy eating habits are associated with untimely death. Many people are eating a diet which consists of too much salt and saturated fat, and less fruit, vegetables, nuts, seeds and whole grains.

Western diet comprises of processed foods that have little or no nutrients, it is linked to hypertension, heart disease, diabetes, obesity, colorectal cancer and hepatitis. Low intake of healthy foods is the major cause of mortality, poor nutrition habits can be a behavioral health issue, because nutrition and diet affect feeling, thinking and behavior. Poor diet results in lower strength.

According to National Institutes of Health, hypertension is one of the results of poor nutrition. Eating too much junk food, fried food, salt, sugar, dairy products, caffeine and refined food can cause hypertension.

Poor nutrition can lead to high cholesterol, which is the major cause of heart disease. High cholesterol foods contain large amount of saturated fat. Ice cream, Eggs, Cheese, Butter and Beef can cause high cholesterol. Diabetes also can be linked to poor diet.

A stroke is caused by plaque that builds up in a blood vessel, then breaks free as a clot that moves to the brain and creates a blockage can be linked to poor nutrition. Strokes damage the brain and impair functioning, sometimes leading to death. Foods high in salt, fat and cholesterol increase the risk for stroke.

Different types of cancer like bladder, colon and breast cancers, may be caused by poor dietary habits. Avoid foods that contains refined sugars, nitrates and hydrogenated oils. Eat fruits and vegetables everyday to remain healthy and avoid untimely death.

Breakfast is important for proper development

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, starting the morning with a meal is important for teenagers and children. Skipping breakfast could leads to low brain function. Children who did not eat breakfast each day lacked proper nutrients that are essential for healthy growth.

Skipping breakfast can leads to iron, folate, calcium and iodine deficiencies which can leads to development of different diseases. Iron circulates oxygen throughout the body, iron deficiency leads to less oxygen circulation which can affect red blood cells.

Inadequate oxygen leads to fatigues, children become tired easily with poor oxygen circulation. Not having enough oxygen can affect how well their brain functions as well as their immune system's ability to keep the body healthy.

Iron is essential in maintaining healthy cells, hair and skin. The amount of iron that children need depends on their age. Calcium is necessary for strong bones and teeth. Calcium deficiency can cause problems with a child's hormone release and their muscle contractions.

Iodine is important for good thyroid health. Children who do not get proper amounts of iodine can experience slow mental development. Skipping breakfast daily leads to low levels of folate. Folate is essential for proper nutrients absorption.

Energy dense foods increase the risk of cancer

Nutritional modifications can reduce risk of developing cancer, there is a proven link between obesity and some types of cancer. Dietary energy density DED contributes to cancer risk. DED is a measure of food quality and the relationship of calories to nutrients. The more calories per gram of weight a food has, the higher its DED.

Whole foods like vegetables, nuts, seeds, fruits, lean protein, and beans are considered low-DED foods because they provide a lot of nutrients using very few calories. Processed foods like cake, burger and pizza are considered high-DED foods because you need to eat larger amount to get necessary nutrients. Regular consumption of foods high in DED contributes to weight gain in adults.

Women who consumed a diet higher in DED were ten percent more likely to develop an obesity-related cancer, independent of their body mass index.
Obese people may develop different kinds of cancer like oesophagus, kidney, bowel, breast and pancreas cancer.

Weight management alone may not be effective in preventing obesity-related cancers if a women eats diets high in energy density regularly. Higher DED in normal-weight women may cause metabolic dysregulation that is independent of body weight, which increase the cancer risk.

Thrombectomy can prevents stroke complications

Inadequate blood supply to the brain can cause stroke or when blood vessel within the brain ruptures, causing brain tissue to die.

A stroke is a medical emergency, it requires immediate treatment. During a stroke, the brain does not receive enough oxygen and nutrients, which can leads to death of brain cells.

A thrombectomy is a surgical procedure used to remove a blood clot -thrombus from the brain. The thrombus obstructs blood flow and may cause tissue death.

Thrombectomy is effective in patients with blood clots up to 24 hours after a stroke. Stroke can occur when brain blood vessel bursts.

Thrombectomy is safer than clot-busting drugs because it has no side effects.

How to improve your metabolism

Metabolism is the set of life sustaining chemical changes with in the cells that change food to energy.

Metabolism goes up for two to three hours after eating because of the extra metabolic processes required to digest food and absorb its nutrients.

How we eat has an impact on how many calories we burn, eating for 10 minutes can burn 30 calories.

The benefits of exercise are two-fold. First, aerobic activities such as running, cycling and brisk walking increase the amount of calories we burn.

Aerobic exercise can lead to the afterburn effect, where the body continues to burn calories faster for many hours.

Spider venom may prevent brain damage

A peptide from spider venom may prevent brain damage caused by stroke, accordingly to stroke association

Stroke occurs when the blood supply to brain is reduced or stops. During stroke, the brain does not receive enough oxygen and nutrients and this destroy brain cells.

Science tested spider venom protein - Hi1a on rat, the protein blocked acid-sensing ion channels in the brain, this can cure nervous system disorder in human and it has potential to reduce damaged caused by stroke.
