Cleaning products can increase the risk of lungs cancer

Common household disinfectants like bleach, hydrogen peroxide and alcohol   increase the risk of developing lung disease, regular exposure to these cleaning agents increases the risk of developing chronic obstructive pulmonary disease COPD.

COPD is a group of lung conditions that cause breathing difficulties including emphysema, where there is damage to the air sacs in the lungs, or chronic bronchitis which is the long-term inflammation of the airways.

Disinfectants like glutaraldehyde, a strong disinfectant used for medical instruments, bleach, hydrogen peroxide, alcohol and quaternary ammonium compounds known as ‘quats’, used for low-level disinfection of surfaces such as floors and furniture are linked with COPD.

Breathing in the strong cleaning chemicals while using them can increase the risk. Working as a cleaner and using these disinfectants regularly increase the risk of COPD.

Dangers of stress

A stressful life increases the thickness of the artery walls, leading to high blood pressure and heart disease.

It also increases the production of cortisol. Researchers used high-tech MRI scanners to examine the brains, hearts and bone marrow of nearly 300 patients.

They discovered that people with higher activity in the amygdala region of the brain, the part associated with stress, were 59 percent more likely over the next 3.7 years to develop heart failure.

Stress has been linked to illnesses like cancer, lung disease, bone loss and cirrhosis of the liver.
