Ozempic for treating type 2 diabetes

Ozempic is an injectable prescription medicine for adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. It is not recommended as the first choice of medicine for treating diabetes. Ozempic is not a substitute for insulin and is not for use in people with type 1 diabetes or people with diabetic ketoacidosis.Active Ingredient: semaglutide. Inactive Ingredients: disodium phosphate dihydrate, propylene glycol, phenol and water for injection.

Ozempic (semaglutide) injection 0.5 mg or 1 mg, a once-weekly glucagon-like peptide (GLP-1) receptor agonist for the treatment of adults with type 2 diabetes. Do not share your Ozempic pen with other people, even if the needle has been changed. You may give other people a serious infection, or get a serious infection from them. Ozempic may cause serious side effects, including: Possible thyroid tumors, including cancer.

Ozempic and other similar medicines caused thyroid tumors, including thyroid cancer. It is not known if Ozempic will cause thyroid tumors or a type of thyroid cancer called medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) in people. Do not use this medicine if you or any of your family have ever had a type of thyroid cancer called medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC), or if you have an endocrine system condition called Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2).

Ozempic is injected under the skin (subcutaneously) of  stomach (abdomen), thigh, or upper arm. Do not inject Ozempic into a muscle or vein. Use Ozempic one time each week, on the same day each week, at any time of the day. You may change the day of the week you use Ozempic as long as your last dose was given two or more days before. If you miss a dose, take the missed dose as soon as possible within five days after the missed dose. If more than five days have passed, skip the missed dose and take your next dose on the regularly scheduled day.

Ozempic may be taken with or without food. Do not mix insulin and Ozempic together in the same injection. You may give an injection of Ozempic and insulin in the same body area (such as your stomach area), but not right next to each other. Change (rotate) your injection site with each injection. Do not use the same site for each injection.

Prevymn for intravenous infusion

Food and Drug Administration FDA has approved Prevymis (letermovir) once-daily tablets for oral use and injection for intravenous infusion. Prevymis is indicated for prophylaxis (prevention) of cytomegalovirus CMV infection and disease in adult CMV-seropositive recipients [R+] of an allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplant HSCT. CMV is a common and potentially serious viral infection in allogeneic HSCT recipients. CMV-seropositive patients who undergo an HSCT are at high risk for CMV reactivation. Any level of CMV infection is associated with increased mortality in HSCT patients.

In this study, the incidence of bone marrow suppression in the Prevymis group was comparable to the placebo group. The median time to engraftment was 19 days in the Prevymis group and 18 days in the placebo group. Prevymis is contraindicated in patients receiving pimozide or ergot alkaloids. Increased pimozide concentrations may lead to QT prolongation and torsades de pointes. Increased ergot alkaloids concentrations may lead to ergotism.

Prevymis is contraindicated with pitavastatin and simvastatin when co-administered with cyclosporine. Significantly increased pitavastatin or simvastatin concentrations may lead to myopathy or rhabdomyolysis. The concomitant use of Prevymis (letermovir) and certain drugs may result in potentially significant drug interactions, some of which may lead to adverse reactions (Prevymis or concomitant drugs) or reduced therapeutic effect of Prevymis or the concomitant drug.

Consider the potential for drug interactions prior to and during Prevymis therapy; review concomitant medications during Prevymis therapy; and monitor for adverse reactions associated with Prevymis and concomitant medications. This findings demonstrate that letermovir is a significant and welcomed advance in the prevention of clinically significant CMV infection and lowers mortality in this highly vulnerable patient population.

The recommended dosage of Prevymis is 480 mg administered once daily, initiated as early as Day 0 and up to Day 28 post-transplantation (before or after engraftment), and continued through Day 100 post-transplantation. If Prevymis is co-administered with cyclosporine, the dosage of oral or intravenous Prevymis should be decreased to 240 mg once daily. Prevymis is available as 240 mg and 480 mg tablets, which may be administered with or without food. Prevymis is also available as 240 mg and 480 mg injection for intravenous infusion via a peripheral catheter or central venous line at a constant rate over one hour.

When allergies are out of control

Allergens are foreign substances that cause an allergic reaction in the body, allergy symptoms occur when immune system overreacts to something that is harmless but triggers a reaction in the blood.

Food, skin, dust, insect, pet, pollen and drug are the common types of allergies.
In allergic individuals, the body recognizes the foreign substance, and the allergic part of the immune system generates a response.

Avoiding exposure to things you are allergic to is the best way to control the symptoms. Immunotherapy may be an option for people with severe and persistent allergies who are unable to control their symptoms.

The treatment involves being given occasional small doses of the allergen; either as an injection, or as drops or tablets. The treatment will strengthen the body to get used to the allergen so it doesn't react to it so severely again.

Benefits of basal insulin

Insulin is a hormone that is responsible for regulation and storage of glucose and fat in the body, diabetes prevents the body from producing and proper use of insulin.

Diabetics patients depend on insulin injection to increase the level of insulin in their body, different types of insulin are available for managing diabetes.

Basal insulin keeps glucose levels under control when you are sleeping or fasting, it feeds your cells with constant stream of glucose to burn for energy all the time.

It manages blood sugar easily because it has no peak time, this can leads to variation in meal and injection time.

Compared to other types of insulin, it causes less weight gain and it requires one to two injections in a day; this depends on your body size, hormone levels, and diet.
